WELCOME
The authors of these stories urge readers to realize that no one gets to be the way they are in a  vacuum, and that the backgrounds, events, and choices that shaped their lives and brought them to prison can be changed by individual, community education and action.

Both the individual and  society must be educated to understand that crime is a symptom of a larger problem, and until the causes of criminal behavior are addressed, crime will continue to be a growing problem in  America. One does not have to go far from their own dwellings to see this first hand.

One primary vehicle for change is example. Young people especially learn from watching others. The writers of these articles cannot directly show you the results of the choices that brought them to prison, but they can share their lives and experience with you through these stories. If they are read with understanding, they may well provide that example that help keep people from following in their footsteps.
